This is a hand pulled screen print of a typewrite on antique 1800’s newspaper that has been mounted on maple board and is ready to hang on a sawtooth hanger. The newspaper really is a unique sheet from the 1800’s, making each piece different. Although I don’t always line up the image with a background that directly relates to it, there are usually some good Easter eggs or fun ads in the paper somewhere.

I get the paper from an antique newspaper historian and collector who passes on papers that aren’t historically important or are damaged in some way. Fun fact: the older the newspaper is, the better condition it tends to be in. Until the later 1800’s newspaper was printed on cotton paper, much of which was made from scrap cloth and old rags, hence the saying the “daily rag”. I actually have to stain older papers so people don’t doubt they are authentic.

The screen print you receive will not necessarily be the one pictured.
